Multiple Mare Discounts  -  We offer a discount for breeding more than one mare, for the same owner, by deducting $150  for each subsequent mare.  You can breed to the same stallion or different stallions.

Unconditional Guarantee  -  We have offered an unconditional guarantee on our stallions since the early 1980's... If for ANY reason you are dissatisfied with your foal, JG Appaloosas will breed the mare back FREE, (excluding any veterinary, mare care, collection/preparation or shipping charges), during the current years breeding season or return the breeding fee.  The mare owner has the choice of rebreeding or refund.  The mare owner must notify JG Appaloosas within 30 days of foaling if impending return and deliver the unsatisfactory foal to the farm at time of weaning.   We have never had a foal returned.

We live cover or artificially inseminate here at the farm, and also transport cooled semen.  We have been shipping cooled semen successfully for 12 years and have foals all over the U.S. and Canada.  New techniques have made it quite easy.

Shipped Cooled Semen   Most mares conceive with one shipment.  2 shipments are included in the stud fee.  If problems with the mare arise and more than 2 shipments are necessary, the mare owner will be charged $150 for collection / preparation and shipping fee for any additional shipments, prior to shipping.

We work very closely with Dr. Phil Hunt who evaluates the semen and advises us of any possible changes for improvement.  He has always given rave reviews of the semen from all of our stallions.  We can give references from veterinarians all over the country who have been very impressed with the quality of our semen after shipping.

We collect and ship fresh, cooled semen Monday through Friday, Fed-Ex priority overnight.  Let us know when your mare first comes in heat.  Mare owner must notify farm before 5 pm Eastern Time, for next day collection and shipping of semen.    Please be aware of time zones.  5:00 pm ET. is 2:00 pm Pacific Time.

Two doses are included in every shipment so your mare can be inseminated twice if your veterinarian thinks it's necessary.  If ovulation could possibly occur on a Monday, your mare could be inseminated on Saturday and again on Sunday which would cover Monday ovulation.

Booking your mare  To book your mare, print out a copy of our contract, fill it out and send it to us with the $250 booking fee.  The booking fee is deducted from the stallion service fee.

Mare Care  Our mare care, which includes a box stall and private paddock, is $8 per day without a foal, and $12 per day with a foal. Other arrangements can be made for long term stays on a monthly basis.

Frozen Semen  For breeding within the U.S. and Canada, we recommend fresh cooled semen over frozen semen.  Frozen semen is much more expensive to ship than cooled semen.  The conception rates with frozen semen are not nearly as high as with fresh cooled semen.  Frozen semen must be thawed in a precise manner and once thawed does not stay viable very long.  Mares must be palpated every 6 hours to accurately pinpoint ovulation.  The majority of veterinarians are not equipped to handle frozen semen.  Most frozen semen is sold by the straw (dose) without any guarantees.

Most people breeding to an Appaloosa stallion want a colored foal.  For over seas, our feelings are that it is more cost effective in the long run to purchase a colored foal of the bloodlines and sex you want and ship it over, rather than possibly getting a solid foal of the wrong sex after waiting a year.  Another suggestion would be to purchase a mare and foal with the mare already bred back.
