Equine Affaires and World Expos
Equine Affaires and Expos we will be attending in 2007:
We will NOT be attending the Horse World Expo at Timonium, Maryland in January. After several years of bad weather and bad roads we decided not to risk it again in 2006.
We WILL be attending the Horse World Expo at Harrisburg, Pa. February 22-25, 2007. FOUR days!!! We'll be taking Wap Spot and Waps Millennium. Come see us. You can't miss us. We have the first two stalls on the left when you come in the main door.
We will NOT be attending the Equine Affaire at Columbus, Ohio April, 200. April is the busiest month of breeding season. All of the "boys" will be too busy to leave the farm for 4 days.
At this time we are planning to attend the Equine Affaire in Springfield, Mass. November, 2007.

Opening day at the Equine Affaire was standing room only, due to the Veteran's Day holiday. This is the first year I've gone and actually had to wait in line for almost a half hour to get in!
Probably what I look forward to most is seeing what Appaloosas are there to represent our breed. I love seeing all the breeds, from the Friesians to Gypsy Cobs to the little Miniature burro and her tiny newborn foal (I wanted to take that one home in my pocket!). I control myself and go up and down each aisle but I really want to go directly to the Appaloosa spot and feast my eyes.
I had seen "Waps Infinity" (a.k.a. "Chipper") in the Pavilion earlier. He was napping in his stall when I first saw him at the Equine Affaire in 2002, so I really didn't get a good look at him. Chipper was holding court in the main barn when I caught up to him later. He is a big, gorgeous two-year-old stallion by the late, great stallion Waps Reflection and out of the Appaloosa mare Waps Confetti (also the dam of Wap Spot). His face is bay with darker bay spots and he looks like he was chiseled by a master sculptor! He's already a big boy and looks even bigger with his sparkling pure white coat dotted by large bay halo spots -- absolutely beautiful! Limited breedings will be available to Chipper in 2005.
Waps Millennium (Wap's Spot 2 x Waps Malaika - a Reflection daughter) was also present this year. The 2000 stallion is 16.2 hands, dark grulla with the distinctive "Wap" spotted blanket. Again, a beautifully chiseled head on a magnificently powerful body. The bone and legs on these boys have to be seen to be appreciated.
Virginia Hood and her husband Jerry operate JG Appaloosa Sport Horses in Biglerville, Pa. -- home of the "Wap" line of Sport Horses. They have been breeding Appaloosas for thirty-five years for all disciplines. They also brought along a few younger horses to Springfield, including a young filly and some colts. All the horses seemed to have very sweet temperaments -- especially the stallions! There were people all over Chipper, oohing and aahing and petting him (including me) -- he was in heaven! Check them out for yourself at www.jgappaloosas.com Just seeing the Wap Spot boys makes the whole trip worthwhile for me!
We attended the Equine Affaire, in W. Springfield, Mass. November 11-14, 2004. We took Waps Millennium, Waps Infinity, Waps Positive Reflection, and delivered Waps Mercedes to her new owner, Chris Barch. Millennium and Infinity spent a lot of time in the Appaloosa Breed booth/stall. They were a big hit with everyone and loved all the attention.
Reprinted from the Equine Journal, January 2005 issue:
Barbara Breed reporting on the Equine Affaire, Appaloosa breed booth: With thousands of people coming through the doors, there was always a crowd at the stall area and the booth, thanks to the lovely Wap stallions that were there during the time I worked, and how great were these Appaloosas with hundreds of hands touching them for four days! This is one venue that gets the Appaloosa out in front of more people than any other in New England.

If you attended the Equine Affaire last November you probably saw the stallions from JG Appaloosa Sport Horses of Biglerville, Pennsylvania. Virginia Hood brought her four year old Wap Spot (Waps Applause x Waps Confetti) again. This 16.3 h. triple bred Wap's Spot 2 stallion is always a crowd pleaser. You can't help but stop when you pass by his stall - the spots just jump out at you! He's so mellow and at ease with his "fans" that you just want to go in and hug him! Waps Millennium (Wap's Spot 2 x Waps Malaika) made his first appearance this year. The two year old stallion will have his first foals on the ground in 2003 and if they're half as handsome as dad they'll be knockouts! I only got to see little "Chipper" (Waps Reflection x Waps Confetti) lying down in his stall taking a snooze but the 2002 colt looked fine to me. Of course when you first see these "boys" you're knocked out by the color. You can't help but notice. Take a second and third look. The size, the conformation, the great bone and maybe most important in stallions especially, the great temperament --- they're all there. Sometimes we get obsessed with the color on the package and need to really look at the whole deal. These "boys" have it all. The fillies and geldings they have available are pretty great too. (Just in case you think I only like the studs, folks.) I can't wait to see who'll be coming to Springfield next November!
Wap's Reflection was in total 'paddock potato' condition when these photos were taken at the Equine Affaire, Columbus, Ohio in April 1999. He had not been ridden in almost a year and performed like the trooper he is. As always he was a perfect gentleman.
